DATA PRIVACY NOTICE

The Parochial Church Council (PCC) of Enderby Parish Church 

We recognise that your privacy is important. As of May 25th 2018, the law is changing so this privacy policy outlines the types of information we collect, what we do with that information and how we protect it.

The PCC of Enderby Parish Church is the data controller and decides how your personal data is processed and for what purposes.

By submitting your personal information, you are agreeing to this privacy policy.

Why do we collect your information?

There are two kinds of data that we collect. Some is necessary by law and some needs you to opt in with consent.

Some personal information must be kept by law. This includes:

  • The electoral roll while it is still current
  • Gift aid declarations and paperwork
  • Parish registers (baptisms, marriages, funerals)
  • DBS checks and safeguarding information

Other personal information requires you to opt in with your consent. When you provide personal information (such as your name, email address, telephone number, etc.), we will store that information in order to 

  • To keep membership records up to date
  • To organise church rotas and the effective running of the church
  • To keep members informed of events and services around church life
  • To maintain our own accounts and records
  • To provide appropriate pastoral care

Sharing your personal information

Your personal data will be treated as strictly confidential and will only be shared with other members of the church in order to ensure the effective running of the church, or for purposes connected to the church. We will only share your data with third parties outside of the parish with your consent.

How long do we keep your personal data for?

We keep data in accordance with the guidance set out in the guide “Keep or Bin: Care of Your Parish Records” which is available from the Church of England website. 

Your rights and your personal data

You have the right to request information about the personal information we hold on you. If your information is incorrect, incomplete or irrelevant, you can ask to have the information updated or removed.

How do we store and protect your information?

When we collect your information, we store it in compliance with the Data Protection Act. This means:

  • The information stored is only used for what it is intended for
  • Your information should be correct and if not, it is updated accordingly
  • Your information is only kept for as long as seen necessary and then it is removed
  • Personal information is processed in compliance with your rights (see below)

Your information is stored securely and specific measures are taken to protect your information from loss, manipulation or unauthorised access.

The only people who have direct access to your information are those authorised by the PCC.
